Quesada Nabs Skyline Rookie of the Week Honors for the Second Time

NEW YORK — Averaging a double-double over a three-game week, freshman Lauren Quesada (Westbury, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) has been named the Skyline Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week announced by the league office earlier today.

Quesada shot 68 percent from the field (15-of-22) and averaged 13.3 points and 10.3 rebounds helping St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) (7-13, 5-9) to a 2-1 mark in over the stretch. The 5-foot-9 freshman highlighted her week with 19 points and as many rebounds—matching her season high—to post her team-leading fifth double-double of the season in a key Skyline Conference win over Farmingdale State on Saturday.

She opened the week with 13 points and six rebounds in just 22 minutes of action in a triumph over Yeshiva.

For Quesada, it's the second Rookie of the Week selection of the season, also garnering the honor on January 2nd.

Also recognized by the league with an honorable mention for her efforts last week is Destiny Marino (Howard Beach, N.Y./Christ the King) filling up the box score with 17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.0 steals per contest last week. The junior scored a game-high 23 points in the win over Farmingdale State and lands on the honor roll for the fourth time this season.

Sitting a game and a half out of playoff position, the Bears continue their post-season push looking to sweep the season series with Yeshiva University on Tuesday, February 7th starting at 7 p.m. at Baruch College.
