Quesada Repeats as Skyline Rookie of the Week

NEW YORK — For the third time this season, freshman Lauren Quesada (Westbury, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) has been named the Skyline Conference Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week announced by the league office earlier today.

Quesada receives the award for the second time in as many weeks averaging a double-double for the second straight week with 18.0 points and 11.5 rebounds in helping the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's basketball team to a 1-1 week in league play.

The St. Francis Prep product shot 59 percent from the field (13-22) and totaled seven assists. She highlighted her week with 22 points—two shy of her career high—and 16-rebounds in a victory over Yeshiva on Tuesday for her team-leading sixth double-double of the season, also filling the stat sheet with three assists and three steals.

Quesada capped off the week with 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals against second-place Old Westbury on Saturday.

Also receiving an honorable mention from the league is junior Destiny Marino (Howard Beach, N.Y./Christ the King) averaging 18.5 points last week and posting a game-high 24 points in the game on Saturday.

With three games remaining in the regular season, the Bears (8-14, 6-9) sit just a half game behind sixth place for the final spot in next week's Skyline Conference Championships. St. Joseph's returns to the hardwood facing The Sage Colleges (15-8, 11-5) on Tuesday, February 14th for a Valentine's Day showdown in Albany, N.Y. starting at 5:30 p.m.
