O'Donnell Nabs Skyline Rookie of the Week Honors

NEW YORK — Lifting the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's basketball team to a convincing victory over John Jay College on Nov. 21, freshman Kelly O'Donnell (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) has been named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, announced today by the league office.

O'Donnell poured in a game-high 16 points on 6-for-14 shooting (2-for-5 3FG) to lead the Bears' offense, along with eight rebounds and three assists. She was active on the defensive end as well, notching two steals in the 70-36 win.

Last Tuesday's victory followed St. Joseph's first win of 2017-18, a 94-52 handling of York College (N.Y.) on Nov. 18. In the York game, O'Donnell picked up her first collegiate double-double, totaling a career-high 17 points and pulling in 12 rebounds.

This is the first weekly award for St. Joseph's this season. Riding a two-game win streak, the Bears (2-2) open Skyline Conference play on Tuesday (Nov. 28) at The Hill Center versus the College of Mount Saint Vincent at 6 p.m.
