O'Donnell Tapped Skyline Rookie of the Week for the Third Time

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Averaging a double-double to open the new year, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) freshman guard Kelly O'Donnell (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) was announced as the Skyline Conference women's basketball Rookie of the Week for the third time this season today by the league office.

O'Donnell shot 44 percent (12-of-27) from the field and 91 percent (10-of-11) from the free throw line in averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds over the two-game stretch for the Bears (6-8, 4-3).

She opened the week with a team-high 18 points, seven boards and two blocks against first-place Farmingdale State. The 5-foot-10 guard closed out the week recording her team-leading fourth double-double of the season posting 18 points while grabbing a career-high 13 rebounds with a pair of blocks and five steals in just 23 minutes in a dominant, 87-42 win over Sarah Lawrence.

Also recognized for her efforts was junior Victoria Porcasi (Franklin Square, N.Y./H. Frank Carey) who was named to the weekly honor roll after her career-high 28 points on an SJC-record eight three-pointers in Saturday's win. On the men's side, sophomore Stephane Etheart (Hollis, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) also received an honorable mention scoring a career-high 24 points with 14 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season in the victory over SJC Long Island.

Riding their first wins of 2018, both teams are back in action on the road on Wednesday evening with the women facing first-place Mount Saint Mary (8-5, 6-1) and the men heading to Sarah Lawrence (2-10, 1-6).
