Six Bears Reach Double-Figures as Women’s Basketball Earns Decisive Win Over Yeshiva

NEW YORK — Kelly O'Donnell (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) led six players in double figures with a 20-point, 23-rebound double-double as the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's basketball team (3-2, 2-0 Skyline) ran away with a 98-59 victory at Yeshiva University (3-2, 1-1 Skyline) on Tuesday night.

The Bears' 98 points were the most scored in program history and the win preserved their undefeated mark in league play.

How It Happened
The game was neck-and-neck for the majority of the first quarter as Chana Boltax drained a triple to bring Yeshiva within three (11-8) at the 3:17 mark. However, SJC outscored the hosts 13-0 for the remainder of the period, with seven of those points coming from Lauren Quesada (Westbury, N.Y./St. Francis Prep), to establish a 24-8 lead after one.

St. Joseph's put the game away in the second quarter as they pieced together a 23-4 run over the first five minutes pushing their advantage to 47-12. The Bears would go on to lead 59-27 at the break and they were powered by Quesada who scored all 14 of her points in the first half.

The second half was slightly closer, but the Bears still outscored YU 39-32 over the final two periods. Coach Flahive relied on his bench towards the end of the contest and they successfully closed things out led by eight points from Briana Gomez (West Hempstead, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial) in the final frame.
