Kiley Earns Third Skyline Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week Honor

NEW YORK — For the third time in the 2019-20 campaign, center Emma Kiley (Whitestone, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) was named Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office earlier today. In the Bears' 1-1 week against Skyline opposition, the freshman averaged 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 5.5 blocks.

Last Tuesday against first-place Mount Saint Mary, Kiley's 10 boards on the defensive glass propelled her to 11 overall caroms for the game. She also came up with four blocks and scored as many points in a losing effort. In Saturday's home win against Sarah Lawrence, Kiley registered 16 points on 8-of-13 shooting and 13 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season, where she ranks fourth in the Skyline in the category. She also swatted away seven shots to come within three blocks shy of a triple-double.

With 11 rejections last week, she currently ranks third in Division III in blocks (69) and blocks per game (3.63) and sits just three blocks away from tying the program's single-season blocks record of 72, held by assistant coach Samantha Retas '15 in the 2014-15 season.

She also finds herself in the conference's top five in four other categories including field goal percentage (46.0) and rebounds per game (9.5), where she ranks third and fifth, respectively. The freshman's 11.8 points per game place her second on the team in scoring.

The Bears (11-8, 9-5 Skyline) hit the floor on Wednesday, February 5 for a conference tilt at the third-place United States Merchant Marine Academy. Opening tip is slated for 5:30 p.m. with live stats and video available on SJCBears.com/live.
