O’Donnell Named Division II-III Player of the Week by Met Writers

NEW YORK — Following her first Skyline Conference Player of the Week honor, junior Kelly O'Donnell (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) was also selected as the Division II-III Women's Player of the Week by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association earlier today.

The leading scorer in the Skyline Conference averaged 32.0 points on 20-of-40 shooting (.500) and also averaged 14 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.0 blocks in leading the Bears to a 2-0 week and their third-straight victory.

In a decisive 111-74 victory over Yeshiva last Tuesday, the junior poured in a career-high 40 points on a 14-for-24 shooting night with five three-pointers and finished with 15 rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and two steals.

On Saturday, she netted a team-high 24 and pulled down 13 rebounds for her eighth double-double of the season. She scored 18 in the second half to break open a two-point game at halftime and lift the Bears to an 82-66 win over SJC Long Island.

Averaging 21.5 points a game, she now sits 11th in Division III in scoring. With 1,440 career points, she also ranks 26th among all active women's student-athletes and second among all juniors.

St. Joseph's (14-9, 12-6) looks to solidify fourth place heading to the College of Mount Saint Vincent tonight for a 6 p.m. showdown. A victory would clinch the No. 4 seed and a first-round home game in the 2020 Women's Basketball Championship, set to begin next Tuesday.
