O'Donnell Lands on D3hoops.com Team of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. —  Adding to her Skyline Conference Player of the Week award, senior Kelly O'Donnell (Brooklyn) has been selected to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, for the week ending February 6, 2022.

It is the first time in her career to receive the honor and she is the third in team history to receive the national distinction — joining current teammate Emma Kiley and alumna Samatha Retas '15 who was a two-time honoree.

For the three-game week, O'Donnell averaged 30.0 points on 44 percent shooting (28-of-64) shooting to go along with 6.7 rebounds, 4.3 steals, 2.0 blocks, and 1.7 assists.

O'Donnell opened her week against Merchant Marine Academy on Tuesday notching 21 points with five rebounds, three steals, and two blocks against the top defensive team in the league.

She followed it up with a season-high, 37-point outburst on Thursday against Pratt Institute, shooting 14-of-22 from the field (64 percent), and added six boards, five steals, three assists, and two blocks as the Bears cruised to a 95-60 win over their Clinton Hill rivals.

The senior captain capped off the week logging in 32 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 16-of-20 from the free-throw line. Pulling down nine boards, she also had five thefts, two blocks, and an assist. In the process of logging her fourth 30-plus-point game of the season, she surpassed Mary Barry's '03 scoring total of 1,895 points and became the second known player in team history to eclipse 1,900 points. 

With 1,919 points, O'Donnell trails Rosanne Wahl's '00 mark of 2,004 by 85 points. She also sits second all-time with 947 rebounds and trails Samantha Retas' '15 standard of 958 by 11 boards.

The Bears open a three-game homestand and welcome sibling rivals SJC Long Island on Wednesday for a Skyline Conference affair at The Hill Center starting at 7 p.m.
