How it Happened

The Maccabees (7-8, 4-7) held on to the lead for much of the first quarter. Emma Kiley (Whitestone, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) drove in a layup at 2:51 to give the Bears (9-7, 7-5) a 16-15 lead. They ultimately scored nine of the last 11 points to carry a 23-17 advantage into the second stanza.

Yeshiva fought back to reclaim the lead with over six minutes remaining in the second period, 32-31. The quarter ended with a pair of ties and as many lead changes, resulting in a 41-40 halftime edge for the Maccabees.

The Bears scored eight points, propelled by triples from Kristen Donovan (Maspeth, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) and Aaniya Telford (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy) to lead 53-49. Down by 10 with 1:49 in the period, 62-52, the hosts erased their deficit as the game was deadlocked at 62 entering the fourth quarter.

Daniella Rothman hit a jumper in the paint to cap off Yeshiva's 12-point scoring run. The Bears reclaimed the lead two minutes later but the pendulum swung back in YU's favor. With 90 seconds remaining, SJBK took the lead on a pair of Destiny Hurt (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka) free throws.
