Kiley's Career Evening Lifts Women's Basketball to Non-Conference Victory Over Pratt

BROOKLYN, N.Y. —  A dominant home performance from senior Emma Kiley (Whitestone, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) led the St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) women's basketball squad (10-8, 7-6 Skyline) to an 86-39 victory over Pratt Institute (1-18) Tuesday afternoon at The Hill Center.

Kiley recorded career-highs of 34 points and 18 rebounds along with five blocks, while junior Destiny Hurt (Elmont, N.Y./Sewanhaka) put up a 14-point, 12-rebound double-double, her sixth-straight game with such a feat.

How It Happened

A gritty first quarter saw the Cannoneers keep pace with the Bears as the scoreline was 14-7 entering the second.

Kiley flexed her offensive firepower in the second period, scoring 12 points and pulling seven of her eight boards on the offensive glass. The Bears' lead grew to 33-19 after the first 20 minutes.

A 16-0 run, which began with eight seconds in the second, gave the navy and gray a comfortable 27-point cushion. By the end of the third, the advantage had grown to 40, 68-28, with St. Joseph's ultimately defeating the visitors by an 86-39 margin.

For the Bears

  • Kiley's 38 points bested her previous high of 31 (vs. Purchase, Jan. 2022) while her 18 boards eclipsed her career-best of 17 (vs. St. Joseph's LI, Dec. 2021).

  • Tuesday marks Kiley's fifth game with five-plus blocks in a game.

  • The senior's 38-point showing inches her closer to the 1,000-point threshold with five regular-season games remaining (929 career points).

  • Grace Kennedy (Maspeth, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) collected 10 caroms and was a two-point field goal away from logging a double-double.

  • Ayomide Adeoye (Brooklyn, N.Y./Edward R. Murrow) had 11 rebounds to go with six points.

  • Kristen Donovan (Maspeth, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) dropped a game-high nine assists while Alexis Breen (Union Beach, N.J./Keyport) distributed eight dimes.

  • Donovan, Adeoye, and Katherine Barrios (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) all finished with six points with the latter sinking a pair of triples late in the fourth quarter.

  • 35 third-quarter points are the most the Bears scored in a quarter this season.
