Chernyakhovsky Tabbed HVWAC Soccer Rookie of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – After scoring the game-winning goal leading the St. Joseph's College women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Lehman College on Thursday evening, freshman midfielder Pam Chernyakhovsky was recently named the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.

The weekly honor is the first received by a Lady Bear as the women's soccer team competes in their inaugural intercollegiate varsity season.

Chernyakhovsky scored off a set piece from a corner kick in just the third minute of their very first match.  The Lady Bears tacked on two second half goals to pull away from the Lightning for their first program victory.

The Lady Bears (1-0, 0-0 HVWAC) returns to the field on Thursday, September 13th traveling to borough rivals Brooklyn College for a non-conference match starting at 5 p.m. in the front-end of a doubleheader followed by the 2012 season opener for the men's soccer team at 7 p.m.
