Farinella Repeats as HVWAC Rookie of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Recognizing her outstanding effort in net and leading the defensive effort of the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team, Nicole Farinella (East Patchogue, NY/Bellport HS) has been selected as the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row.

The junior goalkeeper made 20 saves in a 3-0 loss to sister campus St. Joseph's (L.I.) while facing 36 shots. Against HVWAC foe and USCAA #4 ranked Albany Pharmacy, Farinella made an outstanding 18 saves for the game with 12 of them coming in the second half while facing relentless pressure from the Panthers.

Farinella and the Lady Bears (1-2-1) return to the field on Thursday, September 27th facing conference foe Medgar Evers at the Aviator Sports Complex in Brooklyn in the nightcap of a doubleheader with the men.  The Bears square off against the Cougars at 6 p.m. with the Lady Bears kicking off at 8:15 p.m. Fans can follow both games with live stats on www.SJCBears.com.
