Farinella Captures AD3I Player of the Week and HVWAC Rookie of the Week Honors

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Recognizing her outstanding performance in net and leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team defense, Nicole Farinella (East Patchogue, NY/Bellport HS) has been named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Player of the Week and Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Rookie of the Week.

The junior goalkeeper recorded her fourth shutout of the season in a USCAA matchup against No. 15 Briarcliffe. Farinella made an outstanding nine saves for the game with six of them coming in the first half as she led the Lady Bears to a 0-0 double-overtime draw.

Farinella follows teammate Pamela Chernyakhovsky (Brooklyn, NY/Leon M. Goldstein) as back-to-back AD3I Player of the Week award winners.  The tandem have also combined to receive the last five HVWAC Rookie of the Week awards with Farinella now a three-time recipient and Chernyakovsky a two-time winner.

Farinella and the Lady Bears (2-2-2) return to the field Thursday, October 11th facing borough rival Brooklyn College.
