Lady Bears Soccer Advances to Championship Game

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team has earned a berth in the 2012 Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) title game by virtue of a 1-0, forfeit win over Medgar Evers College in their semifinal game scheduled for tonight.

The Lady Bears' (5-4-2) record will remain unchanged as the game is officially recorded as a no contest and the NCAA does not recognize wins from no contests.

St. Joseph's will face #2 Berkeley College on Sunday, November 11th for the championship. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. at the College of Staten Island.

When the Lady Bears and Knights met in the regular season, Cynthia Gambino (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) scored a pair of goals to lead St. Joseph's to a 3-1 victory.
