Sequeira Named Skyline Conference Player of the Week

NEW YORK — Leading the Bears to a 13-0 victory over Medgar Evers (Sep. 8) with a hat trick and two assists, sophomore captain Deserae Sequeira (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) was named Skyline Conference Player of the Week, announced by the league office earlier today.

Sequeira secured her three goals and two dimes in just one half of play as St. Joseph's cruised to their first victory of 2018. The Bears had a similar outcome against Medgar Evers last season, beating them 12-0 behind four goals and two assists from Sequeira.

The forward was last season's Skyline Rookie of the Year and took home Rookie of the Week Honors once (Oct. 31), while twice being named to the Skyline Weekly Honor Roll. This week's award is Sequeira's first-career Player of the Week award and first for the Bears this year.

Next up for St. Joseph's women's soccer is a showdown with Clinton Hill rival Pratt tomorrow (Sep. 11) at Randall's Island Field 10 starting at 9 p.m.
