Sequeira Earns Second Straight Skyline Player of the Week Award; Lavelle Lands on Honor Roll

NEW YORK — Riding a four-game point streak and scoring six goals in her last two games, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) sophomore Deserae Sequeira (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) has been named Skyline Conference Player of the Week announced by the league office earlier today.

The honor is the second in a row for Sequeira and comes after she led the Bears to a 10-1 rout of York (N.Y.) last Wednesday (Sep. 12). She poured in five goals on 10 shots (six on goal) and dished out an assist with four of her five tallies coming in the first half. In the Bears' previous contest, a win over Pratt (Sep. 11), the forward served up an assist to keep her point streak alive. Most recently, Sequeira put up a goal and an assist in the Bears' 7-3 loss to Staten Island (Sep. 15).

Sequeira currently leads the Skyline with nine goals to pace a Bears' offense that sits atop the league in goals scored (30). Her 23 points also tops the league rankings and she sits second in assists with five. This week's award is the second of her career and second of the season for the Bears following last week's honor.

Additionally, freshman Julia Lavelle (Bayside, N.Y./Mary Louis Academy) landed on the Skyline Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in her career after three-straight multi-goal performances and six goals in three games.

SJC women's soccer will be back in action on Tuesday (Sep. 18) with a road battle against Cedar Crest beginning at 7 p.m. A link to live stats will be available at SJCBears.com.
