Sequeira Collects Third Skyline Player of the Week Honor
NEW YORK — Scoring both game-winning goals in a pair of victories that lifted the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's soccer team to third place, sophomore Deserae Sequeira (Clark, N.J./Arthur L. Johnson) has been named the Skyline Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the third time this season, announced by the league office today.
Sequeira turned in a 14-point effort in the Bears' 2-1 week, scoring five goals with four assists.
Her two goals on Saturday lifted the Bears to a 3-1 victory over Mount Saint Vincent—first win over the Dolphins in program history—and made the sophomore striker the second-leading goal scorer in Bears' history.
The very next day she played a part in seven goals in SJC's 11-0 win over Yeshiva, turning her third hat trick of the season while dishing out a career-high four assists.
Sequeira's 16 goals and 42 points currently lead the conference.
The Bears (8-7, 4-3 Skyline) have one game remaining in the regular season traveling to Sarah Lawrence College on Wednesday, October 24 in a game that could decide a first-round home game for the Skyline Conference Championship that begins on October 27.
