Women’s Soccer, Brooklyn College Play to 1-1 Draw

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) women's soccer team and Brooklyn College played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon in Flatbush.

The Bears (2-1-1) outshot the Bulldogs (1-3-2), 4-3, in the opening 45 minutes with Sabrina Amadio (Douglaston, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) taking a pair of shots.

An attack-minded St. Joseph's side broke the scoreless deadlock in the 71st minute when Katherine Barrios (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) provided Ashley Pintado (Jackson Heights, N.Y./Christ the King) with a perfectly-placed through ball to score her first goal of the season.

Flor Ramos was able to rescue the stalemate for the hosts in the 82nd minute as her shot pinged off the crossbar and dropped over the goal line.

For the Bears

  • Bethany Perez (Phelan, Calif./Serrano) took four shots with half finding the face of goal.

  • Including her goal, Pintado attempted three shots of her own.

  • Both of Ashley Chimborazo's (Elmhurst, N.Y./Maspeth) shots were on target.

  • Julia Marin (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) came up with five saves.

  • The Bears are now unbeaten in each of their last four matches against the Bulldogs.
