Lady Bears Upend St. Elizabeth

BROOKLYN, NY – Junior Kristen McMaster (Brooklyn, NY/Fontbonne Hall) won two events and set two personal bests helping the Lady Bears swim team defeat the St. Elizabeth Eagles 61-49. The Lady Bears took first place in six individual events as well as the 200 yard medley relay.

McMaster won both the 100 yard freestyle and the 100 yard individual medley. Her time of 1:07.39 in the 100 freestyle was a personal best while swimming at St. Joseph's and her 1:20.58 in the 100 individual medley bettered her time by almost two seconds.

Four other Lady Bears also won their individual events in addition to McMaster's two. Olivia O'Hara (Brooklyn, NY/Fontbonne Hall), Brianne Reilly (Queens, NY/Frank Sinatra), Alison Nunziata (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) and Elizabeth Fiorella (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) took first place to help St. Joseph's build their big lead. O'Hara also each finished in second place in two races.

Reilly and Fiorella each set personal records with their victories. Reilly's time of 40.14 in the 50 yard backstroke was the fastest this season in the event while Fiorella's 2:48.65 200 yard freestyle was the second fastest of any Lady Bear this season.

Leading the Eagles was Kris King who took first place in both the 200 yard individual medley and the 100 yard fly.

The Lady Bears jump back into the pool on Saturday, December 11th in the first of three St. Joseph's campus rivalry games at Patchogue. The girls kick off the night swimming at 3:00 pm.
