Nine Named to USCAA All-Academic Team

BROOKLYN, NY – In an announcement made by the conference earlier this week, nine members of St. Joseph's College have been named to the USCAA All-Academic Team.

Of the nine, seven came from the Lady Bears' swim team. Jenna DeFillippo (Brooklyn, NY/Fontbonne Hall), Elizabeth Fiorella (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney), Kristen McMaster (Brooklyn, NY/Fontbonne Hall), Alison Nunziata (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney), Brianne Reilly (Queens, NY/Frank Sinatra), Laura Sonnylal (Richmond Hill, NY/Archbishop Molloy), and Abigail Verbil (Queens, NY/Christ the King) were all honored for their academic achievements.

Completing the list on the women's side was Kristen Bauman (Crystal Lake, IL/Prairie Ridge) from tennis and Maciej Sadowski (Brooklyn, NY/Cathedral Prep) represented volleyball on the men's side.

McMaster, Nunziata, Fiorella and Sadowski each receive the honor for the second straight year.  In all, 17 student-athletes were named to the USCAA All-Academic Team for the 2010-2011 season, the most in school history.

In order to qualify for the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must be a sophomore or higher and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.
