McMaster Named HVWAC Swimmer of the Week

BROOKLYN, NY – Senior Kristen McMaster (Brooklyn, NY/Fontbonne Hall) has been named the Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week for meets through Sunday, January 29th.  The announcement was made earlier this week by the conference recognizing McMaster for the second time this season and the fourth time in her career.

McMaster medaled in all four of her events at the HVWAC Invitational Championships capturing gold in three: the 50 yard freestyle (28.66), 100 yard breaststroke (1:24.01) and leading off the 200 yard freestyle relay (2:02.11).  McMaster's performance in the 100 yard breaststroke also lowered the conference mark this season and set a new school record.

Earlier this week, McMaster lowered her school record in the 100 yard free (1:03.9) and lead off the winning 200 yard free relay, helping the Lady Bears complete a comeback victory over St. Elizabeth.

At the HVWAC Championships, McMaster was named to her third straight HVWAC All-Conference Team.

St. Joseph's (4-9) will conclude their 2012 campaign on Friday, February 17 hosting the College of New Rochelle at Brooklyn Technical High School starting at 7:30 p.m.  The team will also celebrate Senior Night honoring McMaster, Alison Nunziata (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney), Elizabeth Fiorella (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney), Catherine Muldoon (Brooklyn, NY/Fontbonne Hall) and Abigail Verbil (Queens, NY/Christ the King).
