Lady Bears Swimming Victorious on Senior Night Over New Rochelle

Program w/Senior Reflections

BROOKLYN, NY – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimming team concluded their 2012 campaign with a 44-26 triumph over the College of New Rochelle, as the Lady Bears celebrated Senior Night at Brooklyn Technical High School on Friday night.

The Lady Bears dominated from start to finish, taking a clean sweep of all 11 events, defeating New Rochelle for the third time this season and giving seniors Alison Nunziata (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney), Kristen McMaster (Brooklyn, NY/Fontbonne Hall) , Elizabeth Fiorella (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney), Catherine Muldoon (Brooklyn, NY/Fontbonne Hall) and Abigail Verbil (Queens, NY/Christ the King) a win to end their collegiate careers.

In a modified meet schedule that featured four relay events, the senior relay squad of Verbil, Fiorella, Nunziata and McMaster were triumphant in the 200 yard breaststroke relay, but not without a fight from the underclassmen relay of Haley Betancourt (New York, NY/St. Vincent Ferrer), Maureen Donohue (Rochester, NY/Rochester), Erin Collins (Breezy Point, NY/Fontbonne Hall) and Jaclyn Kennedy (Breezy Point, NY/Fontbonne Hall) who finished just 0.35 seconds behind them, producing the closest and most exciting event of the meet.

The senior relay squad of McMaster, Muldoon, Fiorella and Nunziata also won the 200 free relay, capturing the final event for the fifth straight time since teaming up mid-January.

Earlier in the meet, Collins shaved off four seconds off her personal best in the 100 yard freestyle (1:12.81) and Demi Herman (Rockaway, NY/Stella Maris) set a new personal best in 50 yard freestyle (35.43).
