Eight Swimmers Named to USCAA National All-Academic Team

UNIONTOWN Pa. – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) recently announced their 2014 Winter National All-Academic Team with eight St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimmers receiving recognition. For the winter season, which includes men's and women's basketball, 14 St. Joseph's College student-athletes received All-Academic honors.

National All-Academic award winners are upperclassmen who have earned a cumulative 3.5 GPA or higher. The Athletic Department would like to congratulate the following Lady Bears swimmers who received USCAA All-Academic honors.

Betancourt, a senior also named to the HVIAC All-Conference Team, posted career-best times in both the 1000 free and the 100-yard breaststroke during the 2013-14 season.

Carbone, a sophomore, had her career-best in the 100-yard backstroke during the season. She also was named to the USCAA All-Academic Team in the Fall as a member of the volleyball team.

Collins, a junior, notched season-best times in the 50 and 100 free as well as recording a win in the 50 free during a December 6 match against Brooklyn College.

Duffy, a junior, set a personal best time in the 200-yard freestyle during the 2013-14 campaign. She also appeared on the USCAA All-Academic Team in the Fall season for women's soccer.

Kennedy, in her senior year, had her career-best times in both the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyles for the Lady Bears.

Moncino, a junior, swam her career-best time in the 50 free at the Cedar Crest meet in November. She also earned HVIAC Fall All-Academic Team honors for the second consecutive year and was also named to the USCAA National All-Academic Team earlier this year.

Montana, a junior, took home first place in the 100-yard butterfly in a double-dual meet against Cedar Crest and Cazenovia in November. She also earned her career-best time in the 100 fly during the season.

Salazar, in her sophomore year, posted a season-best time in the 100-yard freestyle during the season for the Lady Bears.
