Women’s Swimming Collects Win Over York in Triple Dual

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. — Returning to the pool for competition for the first time in over a month due to the winter break, the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's swimming team took an 88-45 victory over York College, but fell to sibling rivals St. Joseph's College (Long Island), 119-45, and Cedar Crest, 112-67, in a non-conference triple dual meet on Friday evening at the Danzi Center.

Kathryn Cosenza (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) and Rebecca Bollmann (Broad Channel, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) each notched second-place finishes for the Bears.

SJC Highlights

  • Kathryn Cosenza touched the wall in second place in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:34.22 followed closely by Eireann Corbett (Broad Channel, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) two seconds later in 2:36.34. Cosenza also finished in third place in the 100-yard freestyle (1:08.02).
  • Rebecca Bollmann collected second-place points in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:22.84) and third-place points in the 50-yard freestyle (31:59).
  • Jessica Gnad (Brooklyn, N.Y./Leon M. Goldstein) finished in third place in the 100-yard backstroke (1:20.95) and the 100-yard butterfly (1:19.68).

Next Up for the Bears

St. Joseph's heads to Maritime College on Wednesday (Jan. 16) for a Skyline Conference dual starting at 6 p.m.
