Tennis Gets Big Win Over Mount St. Vincent Heading Into Conference Tournament

QUEENS, NY - St. Joseph's ended the regular season on a high note at the US National Tennis Center, defeating Mount Saint Vincent on Wednesday night by a score of 6-3. The win should give the Lady Bears some momentum with the Hudson Valley Conference Tournament scheduled for Saturday.

The Lady Bears won 4 of the 6 singles matches to get the upper hand in the victory. Jessica Lintner (Queens, NY / Martin Luther) defeated Kim Carreon 10-5 at 1st singles, Danielle Kramer (Queens, NY / Martin Luther) beat Lauren DeRiggs 10-7 at 3rd singles, Darcy Crimi (Queens, NY / Christ the King) beat Monica Luis 10-8 at 4th singles and Veronica Lysenko (Brooklyn, NY / Bishop Kearney) beat Michelle Kirby 10-8 at 6th singles. The victories by Crimi and Lysenkenko were their second singles wins of the season. Elaine Lupenowicz (Brooklyn, NY / Environmental) lost for the first time in singles this season, being upended by Courtney McElhone 1-10 at 5th singles.

At doubles, Lintner teamed up with Tara Deahn (Queens, NY / Martin Luther) for an 8-6 victory at 1st doubles and Kramer and Crimi teamed up for a 8-2 victory at 2nd doubles.

The win improves the Lady Bears record to 4-7 on the season and 2-3 in conference play, where they finished in 4th place. The Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, October 25th at 10:00 AM (weather permitting) at the US National Tennis Center in Flushing, NY.
