Lintner Extends Streak as Tennis Falls to New Rochelle
FLUSHING, NY – Senior Jessica Lintner (Queens, NY/Frank Sinatra) turned in a pair of wins to extend her winning streak to six as St. Joseph's women's tennis fell to College of New Rochelle 6-3 at the National Tennis Center on Thursday night.
Lintner, HVWAC Player of the Week for the last two weeks, defeated Christine Locke 10-2 at first singles and paired up with Kristen Bauman (Crystal Lake, IL/Prairie Ridge) for an 8-2 victory at first doubles. Lintner is 9-1 over her last 10 matches. Bauman dropped a close decision at second singles losing 10-8 to Amanda DeFrancesco.
Elizabeth Stein recorded her first career singles victory for the Lady Bears final point, upending Britnie Anderson at sixth singles in a tiebreak 10-9 (7-4).
St. Joseph's (2-8, 2-3 HVWAC) concludes the regular season in fourth place heading into the HVWAC Tournament tomorrow at the National Tennis Center starting at 10 a.m. Lintner's conference performance has earned St. Joseph's the #2 seed in both the first singles and first doubles brackets.
