Matthews Named HVWAC Rookie of the Week

NEW YORK, NY – St. Joseph's junior outside hitter Kim Matthews (Brooklyn, NY/Bishop Kearney) has received Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference (HVWAC) Rookie of the Week honors in an announcement made by the conference yesterday.  This is the second time this season Matthews has been selected as the Rookie of the Week, also receiving the honor for the week of September 22.

Matthews showed her versatility by filling in at setter.  She dished out 39 assists over two matches last week, including a season high 23 in a conference match against New Rochelle.  Matthews also totaled 15 digs, 11 kills and seven service aces over the two games for the Lady Bears.

Senior Yliane Ulloa (Queens, NY/Midwood) was also named to the HVWAC Honor Roll for her strong play, amassing a career high 18 kills and 15 digs in a match against New Rochelle.
