GaNun Receives USCAA All-American Honorable Mention; Four Earn All-Academic Honors

CANTON, N.Y.–Junior Lauren GaNun (Breezy Point, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall) was recognized by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) as a Women's Volleyball All-American honorable mention while teammates Jennifer Moncino (Ridgewood, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy), Anna Carbone (Ozone Park, N.Y./Mary Louis), Samantha Cacace (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) and Cassandra Nasta (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) were named to the National All-Academic Team.

This is GaNun's second end of season accolade from the USCAA after receiving the same honor last year. The junior led the Lady Bears in kills (308), kills per set (4.60), hitting percentage (.279), blocks (28), and points (369.5). The three time All-HVIAC middle blocker recorded four double-doubles and compiled double digit kills in 14 games. 

Moncino, a senior, receives All-Academic Team honors from the USCAA for the second time in her career. The outside hitter led her team in service aces (38) and digs (228) and finished second in kills (102) and points (141). One of the Lady Bears' most consistent players, Moncino reached double-digit digs in 13 games.

Carbone receives the All-Academic Honor for the second time as well. Filing in as the primary setter midway through the season, the junior led the team with 261 assists and compiled 50 kills, 37 service aces, 193 digs, and 93.5 points. Carbone recorded four double-doubles and finished with double-digit digs in nine games, including a season high of 33 in a five-set victory over Culinary on October 18.

The sophomore Cacace earns the accolade in her first year of eligibility. Cacace appeared in 15 games, finishing second on the team with 120 assists, including six double-digit assist games. She also recorded 14 service aces and 77 digs on the season.

Nasta is awarded the All-Academic Honor for the second time. The junior appeared in 18 matches for the Lady Bears, contributing 17 service aces and 44 digs. Her best performance came in a win against Washington Adventist on September 21 where she recorded 10 digs, two service aces, and one kill.

USCAA National All-Academic Team members must be sophomore academic standing or higher and maintain a minimum cumulative 3.5 grade point average in order to qualify.
