Women's Volleyball Opens Season at William Paterson

WAYNE, N.J. — Sophomore Nina DiCioccio (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) led six different Bears to record a kill but the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball team dropped a straight-set road decision to William Paterson University in their 2016 season opener on Thursday evening.

The Basics

  • Final Score:  William Paterson 3, St. Joseph's 0
  • Set Scores: 25-4, 25-11, 25-17
  • Records: William Paterson (3-1), St. Joseph's (0-1)
  • Location: Wayne, N.J. – WPU Rec Center

How It Happened

  • The young Bears squad that features five freshmen got off to a slow start in the opening stanza and couldn't keep pace with the hosts who didn't commit an attack error in the set and finished with a .520 attack percentage.
  • St. Joseph's managed to find a better rhythm in sets two and three and totaled 13 kills in the final two frames and six different Bears put away a kill, but they couldn't slow down the Pioneers attack that saw three reach double-digit kills.
