Women’s Volleyball Sweeps Yeshiva at Home

BROOKLYN, N.Y. —  Seven different Bears recorded multiple kills and the team hit a season-high .358 as the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) women's volleyball team swept Yeshiva University, 3-0 (25-11, 25-11, 25-7), on Sunday afternoon at The Hill Center to get back into the win column and halting a six-game skid.

How It Happened

The Bears (5-9, 3-6) won the opening six points of the match with Ayomide Adeoye (Brooklyn, N.Y./Edward R. Murrow) leading the spurt with a pair of kills and Kaitlyn Intindola (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) serving up a pair of aces. SJC controlled the frame on the strength of a .320 hitting with 10 kills, holding the Macs (0-10, 0-9) to just one kill in the set.

Caitlyn Bilbao (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Academy) served up three aces in a 7-0 run that built an 11-2 lead in the second stanza and the Bears maintained their lead.

SJC had their most efficient offensive set in the third racking up 12 kills against just two errors for a .476 hitting percentage. Martina Urgo (Astoria, N.Y./St. John's Prep) led the way with four kills in the frame leading five Bears with two kills each.

For the Bears

  • Urgo slammed a match-high eight kills at a .438 clip with three digs.
  • Cristina Morales (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) and Adeoye had six kills each and both hit over .400 for the match.
  • Intindola dished out 20 assists, served up four aces, and put down three kills.
  • Grace Kane (Breezy Point, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy) and Joell McKeon (Narrowsburg, N.Y./Sullivan West) added three kills each.
  • Julie Boyd (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Academy) chipped in two kills.
