Cross Country Runs at NJIT Highlander Challenge
NEWARK, N.J. — Junior Juan Sandoval (Ridgewood, N.Y./Christ the King) paced the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's cross country team to a 29th-place finish at the New Jersey Institute of Technology Highlander Challenge on Saturday morning.
Sandoval covered the 8K loop at Branch Brook Park in 31:46 to finish in 117th out of 239 Division II and III competitors. Justin Russell (Saline, Mich./Saline) crossed the line second for the Bears in 36:53.
Tamarre Phajou led the Bears in the 6K women's race clocking in at 35:28, but the Bears didn't record a team score.

The Bears have one final tune-up before the Skyline Championships running in the SJC Long Island Invitational next Saturday (Oct. 13) at Sunken Meadow State Park, starting at 1 p.m.
