McKeon, De Leon Lead Cross Country at SJLI Golden Eagle Invitational

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, NY (Brooklyn) cross country team took part at the Golden Eagle Invitational, hosted by sister school St. Joseph's University, NY (Long Island), on Friday afternoon. Joell McKeon led the women's team with a personal-best time of 27:10 while Aaron De Leon clocked in at 37:19 to pace the men's team.

McKeon's 37th-place finish was followed by Danielle Bourne ten seconds later as the women took home a seventh-place team finish on the 5k. The four remaining Bears – Raquel Ramirez, Kristen Donovan, Lauren Van Der Kamp, and Grace Kennedy – finished within a minute from each other, taking 40th-43rd places.

De Leon crossed the finish of the men's 8k course in 80th place. Michael Toribio clocked in at 42:23 in 88th place. Justin Jawad (48:15) and Dominic Yumul (54:11) both crossed shy of the hour mark, resulting in 98th and 99th-place finishes respectively.

The Bears have a quick turnaround as they are set to take part in the Queensborough Community College Invitational on Sunday, October 2 at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The women's race is slated to begin at 10 am while the men start at 11 am.
