Bourne Posts Season-Best Time as Cross Country Competes in Queensborough Invitational

BRONX, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) cross country teams participated at the Queensborough Invitational on Sunday afternoon from Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.

Junior Danielle Bourne (Brooklyn, N.Y./Christ the King) turned in a 54th-place finish (28:30) with rookie Jennifer Sarji (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy) closely behind in 58th place (29:11). Grace Kennedy (Maspeth, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) rounded out the top SJBK three, placing 76th with a time of 30:53. Elizabeth Yu (Vista, Calif./Rancho Bueno Vista), Lauren Van Der Kamp (Sacramento, Calif./Rosemont), and Kristen Donovan (Maspeth, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) all finished inside the top 100 as the Bears placed 13th out of 16 teams on the 5k course.

Evan Sirakis (Hollis Hills, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) topped the men's 8k run for the Bears, placing 63rd with a time of 36:54. Tariq Belma (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) (48:08) and Joshua Gordon (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) (53:58) followed Sirakis.

The Bears will return to the course on Saturday, October 14 as sister school St. Joseph's (Long Island) hosts the SJLI Invitational from Sunken Meadow State Park. The meets are scheduled for 11 am.
