The Lady Bear Facts

Last Time Out: St. Joseph's overcame a 10-point halftime deficit to take a momentary lead, but they would not be able to hold on as Berkeley College defeated the Lady Bears, 57-54, on Saturday at Borough of Manhattan Community College. Megan Moran scored a game-high 20 points to lead St. Joseph's.

St. Joseph's looks to bounce back from its first loss to a HVIAC opponent since February 2nd of last year against Albany Pharmacy. The Lady Bears continue a pivotal stretch of their schedule that seems them play five straight conference games in just over a week.

Kelly McNamee continues to lead a trio of Lady Bears who score in double figures, pouring in 12.1 points per game. The senior has scored in double figures in all but five of her games this season and is shooting an efficient 38.1 percent (24-of-63) from beyond the arc (No. 1 in HVIAC). The guard also shoots a team-best 90.6 percent (29-of-32) from the charity stripe on the season.

Stepping up for the Lady Bears as of late is Moran who is averaging 16.2 points per game over the last five games to up her scoring average to 10.8 points per game. The senior is shooting 51.7 percent (31-of-60) from the floor during the five-game stretch to up her season field goal percentage to a team-best 44.4 percent.

Taylor Raccuglia continues to stuff the stat sheet for St. Joseph's, averaging 11.6 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 2.6 assists per game. Frontcourt teammate Samantha Retas still leads the team in rebounding with 10.7 boards per game and blocked shots with 2.4 per game.

The Way of the Warrior

Last Time Out: Vaughn sufffered an 80-12 setback to HVIAC foe Albany Pharmacy on Saturday.

Vaughn, only in their third varsity season, opened up the season with the program's first-ever win in a game against new HVIAC member King's on November 14th, but have gone on to lose seven straight since. The Warriors struggle on offense, averaging only 28.6 points per game on 23.5 percent shooting, but do a commendable job on the defensive end, holding opponents to 36.1 percent shooting.

One-time HVIAC Rookie of the Week Aiysha Dunlap paces Vaughn with 12.2 points per game and a league-high 18.0 rebounds per game. The freshman is also a prescence on the defensive end, swatting away a conference-high 4.4 shots per game. Dunlap has five double-doubles on the year and leads the team with a 33.1 percent field goal percentage.
