Basketball to Host Play 4Kay Doubleheader on Saturday, January 30 vs. Purchase College

BROOKLYN, N.Y.—The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's and women's basketball teams will play host to their first ever Play 4Kay game on Saturday, January 30 when Purchase College visits The Hill Center for a Skyline Conference doubleheader. The women lead off the action at 4 p.m. with the men following at 6 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to join the players, coaches and staff in wearing pink to the game as St. Joseph's College and Purchase College join hundreds of schools across the nation uniting as one to raise awareness for cancer research on the court.

Special edition SJC Play 4Kay t-shirts, which the men's and women's teams will wear during warm-ups, will be sold on the day of the game for $10 and a 50/50 raffle will be conducted during both games.

Play 4Kay is named after legendary coach Kay Yow, who fought a courageous and very public battle against breast cancer to build a platform dedicated to improving and extending the lives of cancer patients.

In her 34-year tenure at North Carolina State University, the late Yow became the first coach to win two Olympic gold medals, guided her teams to 20 NCAA Tournaments and was inducted into 11 Halls of Fame. However, Coach Yow's legacy in the community extends far beyond the basketball court. Yow founded the Kay Yow Cancer Fund in 2007 before passing away in 2009 after her 22-year battle with breast cancer.

Since its inception, the Play 4Kay program has raised more than $5.18 million to support women's cancer research.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Fans can also donate to the fund at Saturday's game. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.Play4Kay.org.

In addition, prior to the doubleheader is Alumni Hoops Day with the alumni games starting at 1 p.m. followed by the alumni tailgate at 3 p.m.
