Men's Cross Country Opens Season With Eighth Place Finish at CSI Invitational

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Senior Thomas Rushin (Ococee, Fla./Ococee) paced the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's cross country team to an eighth place finish as the Bears opened their 2015 season at the College of Staten Island Invitational on Sunday morning at Clove Lakes Park.

For the Bears

  • Thomas Rushin finished in 24th overall with a time of 20:09 over the 5-kilometer course
  • Thomas Kennedy was the second Bear to cross the finish line with a time of 22:24 securing 46th place
  • Thomas Ambrosino (25:40), Carlos Mayorga (27:24) and Clyde Delacruz (32:13) rounded out the scoring five for St. Joseph's

Noteable

  • Kennedy, Ambrosino and Mayorga all competed in their first collegiate meets.
  • The Bears rounded out the eight-team field finishing two points out of seventh place behind fellow Skyline Conference foe SUNY College at Old Westbury
  • Host College of Staten Island took the team title followed by Skyline Conference members Maritime College and Purchase College in second and third

Next Up for St. Joseph's

The Bears and Lady Bears will return to action on Sunday, September 20 for the Queensborough CC Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park. Women's race begins at 10 a.m. with the men following at 11 a.m.
