Jon Mendez Named USCAA and AD3I Player of the Week

BROOKLYN, NY – In recognition for his outstanding play for the week ending April 19, freshman Jon Mendez(Brooklyn, NY/Xavarian) was named Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) & United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Player of the Week in announcements released by both associations earlier today.  This is his first time receiving either honor.

Mendez, a catcher/third baseman for the St. Joseph's College baseball team, led the Bears to a 4-2 record.  He had his best offensive week of his rookie season and one of the most impressive single-game performances in Bears' history.  In a 27-4 victory over Lincoln University, Mendez went 5-for-5 with a home run, three doubles, a stolen base, eight RBI and four runs.

For the week, Mendez accumulated a .480 batting average, .880 slugging percentage and .536 on base percentage and hit his first two career home runs with four doubles, three walks, two stolen bases, 15 RBI and 10 runs.
