Softball Jumps To #5 in Latest USCAA Poll, Baseball Falls to #14

NEWPORT NEWS, VA – The United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) released their fifth baseball/softball coaches poll earlier today. 

The St. Joseph's College softball team (17-7) jumped four places to the fifth overall ranking.  The Lady Bears are currently on a nine-game game winning streak and are 16-2 since returning from Arizona to open their 2009 campaign.

The St. Joseph's College baseball team (12-15) fell two spots to number 14.  The Bears are 5-3 over the past two weeks with decisive victories over John Jay College and Lincoln University, and key losses to defending USCAA champion Columbia Union, Old Westbury and Yeshiva.

Seven softball bids for the USCAA National Tournament, held in Decatur, IL on May 6-8, will be released Friday, April 24th.

Seven baseball bids for the USCAA National Tournament, held in Hampton, VA on May 11-14, will be released on Tuesday, April 28th.

The eighth and final bid to both tournaments will be awarded to the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) tournament champions.

Lady Bears softball seeks their third appearance in the national tournament while the baseball team, in their second season, seeks their first appearance.
