BROOKLYN, N.Y.—The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) baseball and softball teams have earned postseason berths to compete in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championships taking place in a week.
Riding a five-game winning streak that secured their third straight winning campaign and 20-win season, the Bears (20-16) will make their third straight appearance in the Small College World Series entering as the No. 9 seed and will face No. 8 Penn State Beaver on Wednesday, May 13 at 8:30 a.m. in the opening round of the 10-team, double-elimination tournament, being played at the War Memorial Stadium in Hampton, Virginia.
In the 2014 tournament the Bears secured their first postseason victory upsetting No. 3 Penn State Greater Allegheny in the first round before losing to the eventual national champions, Lindenwood-Bellville.
Fresh off clinching their first 20-win campaign since 2012 and winning their seventh straight Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title, the Lady Bears (22-16) have secured the No. 7 seed in the tournament and will face No. 10 University of Cincinnati Clermont on Monday, May 11 at 10 a.m. in the first round of the 10-team, double-elimination tournament at Firestone Stadium, in Akron, Ohio.
