Lombardi Selected as Skyline Baseball Pitcher of the Week

NEW YORK — Recognizing his effort on the mound in the win over the league leaders on Saturday, St. Joseph's University Brooklyn senior Louis Lombardi (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund Prep) was named the Skyline Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played April 11-17, announced by the league office this morning.

Lombardi had a career game tossing his first complete-game victory in a 3-1 triumph over sibling rivals St. Joseph's (Long Island). The senior struck out a career-high nine and held the league leaders in hitting to just four hits over seven innings of play.

It is the third Skyline Pitcher of the Week accolade collected by a Bear in team history and the first since Mitch Brigando nabbed the honor in 2017.

The Bears open a busy stretch this week with a non-conference matchup with King's College (Pa.) on Wednesday, April 20 at 4 p.m. followed by a home date with Baruch College on Thursday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at Kingsborough Community College. Live stats and video of both games will be available at sjcbears.com/live. Fans are not permitted to attend Thursday's home game.
