Barclays Center Game, Dallas Trip Highlight 2013-14 Men's Basketball Schedule

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – After making the USCAA National Tournament for the fifth time in school history, the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball team will play a game in the Barclays Center and make a trip to Dallas as the 2013-14 schedule was released today by head men's basketball coach Joseph Cocozello.

After finishing 2012-13 with a 16-13 record, the most wins since the 2006-07 season, the Bears will face a schedule featuring matchups against 2013 NCAA Tournament participant College of Staten Island, four 2013 USCAA National Tournament teams and a ECAC Metro Regional Semifinalist in John Jay College.

St. Joseph's kicks off their 2013-14 campaign with six straight road games beginning in Riverdale, N.Y. at the College of Mount Saint Vincent Tip-Off Tournament, facing Trinity College (Conn.) in the opening round on November 15th.

A week later, the Bears head to Dallas for the University of Dallas Tip-Off Classic beginning with a matchup against the hosts on November 22nd followed by a game the next day against Austin College to conclude the trip.

St. Joseph's concludes their six-game roadstand to begin the season with games at Southern Virginia, the 2013 USCAA Division I National Tournament runner-up on November 30th and fellow USCAA Tournament participant The Apprentice School on December 1st.

The Bears return to Brooklyn Technical High School on December 3rd opening their 12-game home slate with a matchup against Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) member The King's College. St. Joseph's then travels to Manhattan to take on CUNYAC foe Hunter College on December 6th.

The following five games for the Bears at home highlighted by the "East vs. West" rivalry matchup against St. Joseph's College (Long Island) on December 21st. Last year's matchup went in the Bears favor as they won 90-87 in two overtimes sparked by the first 30-point, 20-rebound game in Brooklyn's history by Michael Megafu.

The next game on the schedule is the men's basketball team's first ever game at the Barclays Center on December 27th against last year's HVMAC regular season and conference tournament champions and 2013 Division II USCAA National Tournament Champions Berkeley College.

The new year sees St. Joseph's host three of their first four games in the month of January including matchups against CUNYAC schools Brooklyn College and John Jay.

The Bears then embark on a four-game road trip with a game against Valley Forge Christian College on the docket for January 22nd. St. Joseph's concludes the trip with a tilt against HVIAC foe Pratt Institute on January 28th before heading home for three consecutive HVIAC home games beginning with Vaughn College on January 30th and ending with Sarah Lawrence College on February 4th.

A contest against 2013 NCAA Tournament participant Staten Island on February 6th concludes the Bears  home slate before they end the regular season with a HVIAC matchup against Culinary.

The HVIAC Tournament will be held on February 15-16, with the Bears seeking its third championship and first since 2010. St. Joseph's looks to qualify for their second consecutive USCAA National Tournament berth and sixth all-time.
