O'Neill's Triple-Double Garners Honorable Mention From Skyline and Met Writers

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Recognizing the first recorded triple-double performance in St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's basketball history, senior Matthew O'Neill was named to the Skyline Conference honor roll and received an honorable mention from the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association for the week ending on February 21st as announced earlier today.

It is the sixth time O'Neill has landed on the Skyline honor roll this season and second time receiving the honorable mention from the MBWA.

In the Bears only game of the week, O'Neill posted 15 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds leading SJC to a 75-60 victory over Maritime College on Senior Night. The St. Edmund Prep product's 12 assists matched a program record, which he already shared previously. The Brooklyn native's triple-double is one of 20 recorded in Division III men's basketball this season.

With the victory, the Bears improved to 13-12 overall and closed their inaugural season in the Skyline Conference at 10-10, subsequently clinching the sixth-and-final berth in Skyline Championships.

O'Neill and Bears will face No. 3-seed Farmingdale State College tonight in a first-round match-up in Farmingdale starting at 7 p.m.
