Mikos' Big Week Leads to Skyline Player of the Week Honors

NEW YORK — After a monster week averaging 34.3 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 5.7 assists over a three-game stretch, St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) senior Chris Mikos (Freehold, N.J./St. John Vianney) has been named the Skyline Conference men's basketball Player of the Week, for games played February 7-13, the league office announced today.

He tallied double-doubles in each of the three games and shot 64 percent from the field on the week.

Mikos opened the week with a 49-point, 11-rebound, seven-assist effort against Hunter where he shot a blistering 21-of-27 (78%). His 49-point outburst is tied for fifth-most in a single game in Division III men's basketball this season and is the most scored by a Bear in a single game during the Coach Cocozello era.

He followed it up with a team-high 27 points and grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds, with five assists, and three steals in helping to lead a second-half road comeback bid from 28 down to Mount Saint Vincent that would fall short.

Mikos wrapped up the week with game-highs of 27 points and 10 rebounds, adding five assists in a narrow home loss to Old Westbury on Saturday. With his third double-double of the week, he notched his Skyline-leading 14th of the season and is tied for 16th in Division III.

It is the first weekly honor for the senior and the first Skyline men's basketball Player of the Week nod garnered by a Bear since Michael Megafu '16 and Jamir Archer '16 both collected the honor in the 2015-16 season.

Mikos and the Bears will wrap up the home slate and celebrate Senior Night on Tuesday, February 15, welcoming Farmingdale State College in the second game of a Skyline doubleheader tipping off at 7 p.m.
