O’Neill Named AD3I Soccer Player of the Week and HVMAC Rookie of the Week

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Matthew O'Neill (Brooklyn, NY/St. Edmund Prep) was named the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) Men's Soccer Player of the Week and Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference (HVMAC) Rookie of the Week after leading the St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team to their first win of the season.

The freshman midfielder recorded his first career hat trick and picked up an assist in the Bears' 5-1 victory against conference foe Vaughn. The seven points are the second most all-time by a Bear in their two-year history. O'Neill led the Bears with 11 shots with five of them coming on net.

The awards are the first of the freshman's career and the first by a Bear this season.

O'Neill and the Bears (1-6, 1-3 HVMAC) return to the field Wednesday, October 17th facing HVMAC foe Berkeley College at 8:30 pm
