Bears Soccer Stonewalled by St. Joseph's (L.I.)

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team couldn't keep pace with St. Joseph's College (Long Island), dropping a 9-0 decision at the SJC Outdoor Complex on Wednesday night.

The Bears (2-9, 1-4 HVMAC) suffer their most lopsided defeat of the season, while the Golden Eagles (11-9, 8-1 Skyline) wrap up their season with their third straight win and head into the Skyline Tournament as the No. 1 seed.

A goal from Michael Carroll in the 7th minute would be all the Golden Eagles would need but the hosts found the back of the net again in the 10th minute with William Kuhlwilm scoring from the top of the 18.

The Golden Eagles carried a 6-0 lead into break and maintained a 31-2 shot advantage for the contest.  Joe Alessi scored a hat trick with goals in the 30th, 38th and 51st minutes to lead seven different Eagles to tally a score.

For the Bears, Michael Miner (Schenevus, NY/Schenevus) finished with 11 saves and took the loss in net. Freshman Kyle Johnson (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook Central) recorded both Bears official shots, one coming on goal.

The Bears will return to action on Sunday, October 28th concluding their Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference schedule with a road tilt against Webb Institute scheduled for 1 p.m.
