Men’s Soccer Remains Undefeated in Skyline Play Downing Sarah Lawrence, 3-2

YONKERS, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's soccer team scored two first-half goals and never trailed, defeating Sarah Lawrence College, 3-2, on the road on Saturday evening in a Skyline Conference matchup. With the win, the Bears sit in a tie atop the league standings at 2-0 and move back to level .500 at 3-3 overall.

How It Happened

  • Beka Goduadze opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with his third goal of the season, assisted by Thomas Ambrosino.
  • Freshman Mateusz Georges scored his first collegiate goal just six minutes later putting back his own rebound to push the lead to 2-0, where it remained until half. The Bears controlled play in the first with a 13-6 shot advantage.
  • After a Gryphon goal just seven minutes into the new period cut the Bears lead in half, freshman Thomas Mastoras found the back of the net for the first time in his college career for the eventual game-winner on a nice setup from Cesar Oviedo and Goduadze.
  • The hosts responded with a tally just over a minute later that clipped the Bears lead to one, but St. Joseph's finished with a 25-11 shot discrepancy and 12-1 edge in corners for the contest and closed out the victory.
