Men’s Soccer Downed by Mount Saint Vincent

PURCHASE, N.Y. — The St. Joseph's University, NY (Brooklyn) men's soccer team lost 4-1 to the College of Mount Saint Vincent, 2021 Skyline Conference champions, on Wednesday afternoon on the campus of Purchase College.

How it Happened

The Dolphins (5-3-2, 3-1-2) opened their account on an Ian Lamas goal in the 15', adding his second of the match eight minutes later. The hosts found their third goal five minutes before the end of the period, taking a 3-0 lead into the break.

Lamas finished with a hat trick, scoring his third at 75'. The CMSV shutout was spoiled at the death when Lorenzo LaRosa (Astoria, N.Y./Monsignor McClancy) advanced the ball on a counterattack and found Victor Naci (Bordeaux, France/Bernard Palissy) who scored on his first touch.

For the Bears

  • Naci's goal tally grew to 11 in the losing effort.

  • Naci finished with three shots while Francisco Garcia (Brooklyn, N.Y./Park Slope Collegiate) totaled two. 
  • Pablo Mejia (Elmhurst, N.Y./Academy of Finance and Enterprise) led the team with four shots.

  • LaRosa registered an assist in each of the last two games.
  • Garcia, Mejia, and Naci registered the team's shots on goal.

  • Leonel Bravo (Astoria, N.Y./Queens Vocational & Technical) finished with a pair of saves.
