OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. — A solitary goal was enough for the SUNY College at Old Westbury to defeat the St. Joseph's University, N.Y. (Brooklyn) men's soccer team on Wednesday afternoon, 1-0. The deficit snaps the Bears' three-match conference winning streak, which they held since October 1.
How it Happened
The Bears outshot their opposition in the first 45 minutes, 7-2. However, one of the two Panther shots resulted in Roobens Celine's goal in the 26th minute. They took their one-goal lead into the intermission.
The navy and gray continued to push for a breakthrough but Old Westbury managed to keep the Bears off the board and maintain their 1-0 advantage.
For the Bears
-
Victor Naci (Bordeaux, France/Bernard Palissy) had a match-high seven shots, three of which were on target.
-
Jesus Cano (Brooklyn, N.Y./Cristo Rey Brooklyn) and Arturo Franco (Brooklyn, N.Y./Millennium Brooklyn) each had two shots while four Bears registered at least one.
-
Christian Chimborazo (Elmhurst, N.Y./Queens Technical) finished with a save.
