Bears Tennis Falls to Sarah Lawrence in Season Opener

BRONXVILLE, NY – The St. Joseph's College men's tennis team opened their 2011 campaign with an 8-1 setback to Sarah Lawrence College in Hudson Valley Men's Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Muhammad Ali Bhatti (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison) earned the lone win for the Bears with a hard fought victory at #1 singles, prevailing over Nate Currier in a tiebreaker, 10-9 (7-5). Bhatti teamed up with Steve Tanamal (Brooklyn, NY/New Utrecht) at #1 doubles falling to Currier and Sterling Wong, 8-5.

St. Joseph's (0-1) returns to the courts in another HVMAC matchup against Pratt Institute on Monday, April 4 at the Pratt Recreation Complex, starting at 7:30 p.m.
