Men's Tennis Drops HVIAC Opener to Sarah Lawrence

EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) men's tennis team dropped their Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) opener this evening falling 9-0 to Sarah Lawrence College at SPORTIME Lake Isle.

The Gryphons (2-6, 2-1 HVIAC) took control from the opening doubles matches with Javier Bosque (Brooklyn, N.Y./Lasalle) and Iqbal Husain (West Palm Beach, Fla./Palm Beach Gardens) falling 8-5 at No. 3 doubles in the closest match for the Bears.

Bosque played a hard-fought match at No. 5 singles nearly earning a point for the Bears (0-6, 0-1 HVIAC), but fell by a break, 10-8, and Nick Orlando (Brooklyn, N.Y./Christ the King) had another strong effort dropping a 10-7 decision at No. 4 singles.

St. Joseph's returns to the courts on Thursday, April 17 hosting Cooper Union for a non-conference match at the USTA Billy Jean King National Tennis Center starting at 9 p.m.
